Livingston, located on the Yellowstone River, started as a trading post and was originally named "Clark City" by the Northern Pacific Railroad company in 1882. It was renamed the same year to Livingston when the town moved upstream to further accommodate the railroad. Visited in 1806 by William Clark, the town was also inhabited by Clamity Jane for two decades and visited by many adventurous members of European Royalty. Livingston is also an "art haven," and filming location for A River Runs Through It and The Horse Whisperer among others. It was for many years the only entrance to Yellowstone National Park. This map is noted as being located in Gallatin County whereas today it is the county seat of Park County. It features an inset of the First National Bank, prominently made built of brick and granite, and the Albermarle, a customary stop for visitors to Livingston and those on their way to Yellowstone Park.
