VIOFO A229 Pro Tele 2CH — 4K Front + 2K Telephoto with 4× Optical Zoom

The A229 Pro Tele pairs the Wirecutter-endorsed 4K front camera with a dedicated 2K telephoto camera (RTC300) featuring true 4× optical zoom. Wide-angle dash cams compress distant objects into unreadable pixels — the telephoto lens isolates and magnifies them at full 2K resolution: license plates, street signs, traffic signals, and vehicle markings at distances no standard dash cam can capture. Both cameras use Sony STARVIS 2 sensors with HDR.

True Optical Zoom — Not Digital Crop

The RTC320 telephoto uses a physical optical zoom lens with a narrow field of view, capturing distant subjects at full 2K sensor resolution. Digital zoom simply enlarges and degrades existing pixels. With the RTC300, license plates that appear as blurry rectangles on wide-angle footage become clearly legible. This is critical for hit-and-run identification, road rage documentation, and insurance evidence.
