This collection features session recordings from the early Pink Floyd sessions at the BBC in the UK during Syd Barrett's tenure, which opened up the scene from UK psychedelic to progressive rock. The album also features songs from Syd's debut album "The Whistler at Dawn," including "Astronomy Domine," one of the most famous songs from Syd's period, as well as songs from their second album, which was still unreleased in 1967, a time of transition due to Syd's drug addiction. Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun" by R. Waters, the forerunner of prog rock, is a must-hear. Vegetable Man" is full of avant-garde pop and shows Syd Barrett's sparkling temperament, and this is a rare 1967 live performance of a song that had been previously unreleased. (C)RS
