The Machina skid plate for the Triumph Tiger 900 family (2020–2023) is a 3mm aluminium protection plate that solves a documented failure in the OEM Rally Pro design — a single-point sump mount that cracks sump covers on trail impacts. Four rigid brackets distribute force across four sump contact points simultaneously, covering both the sump and oil filter on all Tiger 900 variants from the base 900 to the Rally Pro and 850 Sport.
THE OEM RALLY PRO SKID PLATE IS A DOCUMENTED DANGER — WHY?
The Rally Pro ships with an aluminium plate that mounts at a single point directly to the sump cover. A rock strike — not a crash, a simple obstacle hit — concentrates 100% of impact force at that one contact point. Multiple owners have cracked their sump cover, lost all oil, and been stranded. Sump covers are regularly backordered at dealers. The OEM plate is not protection. It is a liability.
HOW DOES THE MACHINA PLATE SOLVE THIS?
Four rigid brackets distribute impact force across four sump contact points simultaneously — reducing force per point to one quarter of the OEM single-point design. The brackets are the sacrificial interface layer between the plate and the sump casting. The sump takes a distributed load it is built to handle, not a concentrated point strike it is not.
DOES IT COVER THE OIL FILTER?
Yes. The Tiger 900 inline triple positions the oil filter at the front of the engine beside the exhaust collector pipe — an exposed location most riders don't discover until after a trail incident. An oil filter strike means immediate, total oil loss. Full forward coverage is built into the Machina design.
DOES THE PLATE NEED TO COME OFF FOR AN OIL CHANGE?
No. Built-in oil drain provision — the plate stays on for routine servicing.
IS IT COMPATIBLE WITH OEM CRASH BARS AND CENTRE STAND?
Yes to both. The plate coexists with the OEM lower crash bars — no removal or replacement required. Compatible with the OEM centre stand on GT Pro and Rally Pro variants.
DOES ONE PLATE FIT ALL TIGER 900 VARIANTS?
Yes — within 2020–2023, one plate fits all variants: base 900, GT, GT Pro, Rally, Rally Pro, and 850 Sport. All share the same frame, engine, and underbody geometry. Electronics, suspension, and wheels change between variants. The skid plate fitment does not.
WHAT ABOUT THE 2024+ TIGER 900?
This listing is for 2020–2023 models only. The 2024 update introduced an O2 sensor below the gear shifter, close to one of the mounting points. The bracket geometry is different on 2024+ models — ordering the wrong version results in an incorrect fit. Use the separate 2024+ listing for 2024 and newer models.
HOW DOES IT INSTALL?
Bolt-on to existing mounting points — no drilling, no modifications. OEM hardware is reused. 15 to 20 minutes with standard tools.
