It saw action in the Battle of Norway, the Mediterranean, and the defense of Malta, where three Gladiators—nicknamed Faith, Hope, and Charity—famously held off Italian forces. Its rugged construction and twin Vickers machine guns made it a tenacious defender before being outclassed by modern monoplanes.
