Joe Satriani, mentor of Steve Vai and one of the leading guitarists of the modern rock guitar scene, released the album "Surfing With The Alien" in 1987, which reached No. 29 on the U.S. album chart. He has also toured with Deep Purple and Mick Jagger, and has quickly become one of the top guitarists in the world. In 1992, Joe Satriani released "The Extremist," an all-instrumental album. The Extremist", an all-instrumental album, reached No. 22 on the U.S. Album Charts and was awarded a gold disc, and also charted at the top of the album charts in European countries. The album received critical acclaim and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.
