Dovienne was a French composer of the 18th century, a contemporary of Mozart. In addition to being an excellent flutist, he also played the bassoon, and as a composer, he first gained fame as a "opera composer. Theory and Practice" and was also a professor at the Conservatoire de Paris. This third collection of flute concertos includes works from Dovienne's later years, among them No. 10, which is considered his masterpiece. The beautiful passages played by the flute are, of course, very beautiful, but the orchestration is also very innovative, with the oboe playing the same melody as the flute part and the high notes, which had not been used very often until that time.
