Description:
The ninth collection of piano sonatas by Bohemian composer Kogelf, featuring works from around 1790-1793, performed by Kemp on a fortepiano (reproduction) made in 1795. The period was a transitional period from the Gale Age to early Romanticism. No. 33, which begins with a melody based on a Scottish song, is in the style of Haydn, and No. 37, written in the Gallant style, is simple and beautiful, while No. 36, reminiscent of Beethoven's "Passion Sonata," has a completely contrasting atmosphere. The lyrical slow movement has dramatic passages that sometimes foreshadow Schubert's sonatas. Naxos Japan
