When a storm emergency threatens, it may already be too late. A storm that threatens your life, your property, and your state of mind does irreparable damage to your soul How you prepare for a storm emergency - especially a hurricane - determines how well you survive. This book covers many check lists for individuals, families and for our beloved pets and is a must have for hurricane season. What you will learn with this book: -A list of items to have on hand when weather-related emergencies arise-Things to keep your pets safe, comfortable, and secure before, during and after a hurricane-What to do with items in the freezer before a hurricane hits-How to make coffee and one-pot meals when there is a power outage-How to have your children help with plans and entertain them during a storm outage-And so much more... start making your list!As soon as you know a hurricane is headed your way, especially when your area is suddenly "in the cone" it is time to act if you have not already. You have days to prepare, yet with all that you need to do, you will need every bit of time you have.In our world of 24/7 technology, the author covers the types of games and toys to have on hand that do not use electricity. The book also covers some of the common items we should always have around such as batteries and a manual can opener. There are even suggestions for keeping valuable papers dry. Lists of food, medical supplies, water and more that you need to consider having on hand. The author was four years old when she experienced her first hurricane - Hurricane Hazel that was a Category 4 that hit her home in southern New Jersey. Throughout the years the author has endured numerous storms including many hurricanes, numerous nor'easters, tropical storms, tornadoes, and many winter storms with power outages. The author says, "I have been through many storms some with power outages for days. I have lived in states where nor'easters were common and tropical storms were frequent. Living in Florida, hurricane season is always on your mind. I prepare with water and food for at least a week to 10 days. And I have memories of being without electricity for more than five days in a snowstorm when I lived in Colorado. However, those days without electricity are much more challenging - more so to me than during Hurricane Irma. I learned my lesson years ago to be prepared - always be prepared." Hurricane season runs from June 1st to November 30th each year. Some years hurricane activity is quiet. On August 25, 2017, the United States was hit first with Hurricane Harvey that decimated Houston, Texas and the southern Texas coast. Then, 16 days later came Hurricane Irma that ripped through the state of Florida from the Florida Keys to Jacksonville, and from the Gulf Coast to the Atlantic Coast. Nowhere in Florida was spared. Eleven days later Hurricane Maria destroyed the U.S. Territory of Puerto Rico. Author Rosemary Augustine has weathered numerous storms living both in the northeast, the west and now the south. Although Rosemary knows there will be many more storms, she wanted to share her personal survival guide that she uses before and after a storm that keeps her safe and prepared no matter what comes her way. Currently a resident on the central coast of Florida, she and her two kitties survived Hurricane Irma in 2017.
