Just in time for strawberry season, and a very juicy looking bunch! I've had a few examples of this sort before (including some Empire State grapes listed last week)--created, by hand, using stencils and watercolor, for a salesman sample type horticultural specimen catalogue. The way the leaves were done here is typical of these, but the red of the berries themselves here is unusually thick and lush--just perfect for rendering strawberries. With ink printed text below describing the attributes of these Wilson's Albany berries: "like what the Concord is among grapes." C. 1870s.
