The perfectly-named electronic music mag Disco Pogo, created by the founders of nineties mag Jockey Slut, returns with its ninth issue. ‘We never had any intention of re-launching Jockey Slut’, say founders Paul Benney and John Burgess, ‘and then events of recent years made us rethink. The world has changed and so we decided that a new magazine with a new name was best.’ Now a much anticipated title at the shop, the mag lives up to the hype; it’s packed to the brim with in-depth articles covering the old and the new.
This latest edition is all about manifesting an uplifting dance movement, devoted to embracing the scene as it unfolds and actively contributing to its longevity. Inside, discover an homage to Prince, marking a decade spent missing his musical genius; DJ and producer George Evelyn (aka Nightmares on Wax) finds a new lease of life in Ibiza; and two figure heads of electronic pop—Chemical Brother Tom Rowlands and singer songwriter Aurora—discuss their collaboration ‘Tomora’. Elsewhere, a rare interview with Vini Reilly of The Durutti Column, and more profiles featuring the likes of Burial, Loraine James, DJ Hell, and DJ Shadow.
