Made by hand with an honest artisan method, the Aspide is the lightest comfortable saddle.
Made by hand with an honest artisan method, the Aspide is the lightest comfortable saddle. 109g or less guaranteed (Narrow version) thanks to the use of new materials such as Pebax, a new generation of featherweight foam and the 40T high modulus carbon shell. Each saddle is made by one person, from start to finish to create a saddle that is as personal as you are.
The Aspide has been renewed following a deeply study of anatomic shape aimed at finding a perfect balance between the support zone and the relief zone when pedalling in different positions.
The new Aspide's unique shape with its big hole offers support and comfort all day long. The central relief zone is long enough to work in all the riding positions but a structural stability bridge prevents unwanted flex and twist. The application of a padding on all the saddle (only 6.5 grams), with a Microfeel cover that guarantees long-wearing and grip. The rail is the longest carbon rail in the market and allows one of the best adjustments in the forward and backward movement of the saddle.
DNA-CARBON RAILS: The crossing X shape knot (Dynamic Node Action) enables to increase the rigidity of the rail and also to reduce the weight, avoiding useless spin and torsion, without compromising the comfort.
A length greater than the traditional carbon rails you can find on the market, allows one of the best adjustments of the saddle. Superleggera and Carbon FX saddles have this rail.
FULL CARBON FIBRE SHELL: Nylon with high properties, enriched with a high proportion of long carbon fibre, in order to reinforce the characteristics of rigidity, stiffness and durability without compromising the weight.
PEBAX® FOAM: High performance closed cell, cross linked foam that is not only incredibly light weight, but provides high levels of stability and vibration dampening whilst allowing the cover to deform in synchronicity with the rider.
MICROFEEL: Breathable and hard wearing cover. It is lighter than traditional materials and less deformable. Anti-skid effect with an extraordinary grip on the saddle. Biocompatible material.
NEW ERGONOMY: The perfect balance between the support and relief zone. The ""big hole"" helps maintain comfort under pressure and offers day long support and comfort. The central relief zone is long enough to work in all riding positions and the structural stability bridge prevents unwanted flex and twist.
Selle San Marco saddle sizes are characterized by a letter and a number, combining to offer 6 different options plus a one-size-fits-all triathlon size (U3).
The Letters
S or L indicate the width of the saddle, and what guides the choice between the two is the intertrochanteric distance (between the ischial bones of the pelvis).
Size S: narrow distance, for people with a value below 120mm
Size L: wide distance, for people with a value above 120mm
The numbers
1, 2, and 3 indicate the presence or absence of a hole in the saddle, and what guides the choice is the rotation of the pelvis/flexibility of your body. For those who have excellent pelvis rotation, size 3 is recommended, while for others, it scales down to size 1.
1: indicates a closed saddle, meaning the absence of a hole.
2: indicates the presence of a smaller hole called "Flow."
3: indicates the presence of the hole called "Superflow" (the widest one).
