This whip probably started life as a gent's whip but could be carried by a man or a woman.

It has an antler or staghorn handle.
There is a silver button on the heel of the staghorn which is stamped "Swaine & Adeney, London".
It has a silver collar with rolled edges, it has many dents and dings from use.

It is hallmarked, the stamps are too rubbed to read. The collar is engraved "C.B.A.D."

The shaft or stock is covered in dark brown braided leather. There are two scuffs to strands of the braiding - please see the images
The whip has a stitched keeper in bridle leather,there is a little crackling to the surface of the leather on one side.

It has a braided leather thong with a red cord lash. There is fraying around the loop at the end of the thong.
