An exceptionally rare and early example of Sergio Rodrigues’ celebrated “Burton” model, designed in 1958 for Oca, this dining table captures the architectonic boldness that defined Brazilian Modernism at its most refined. Executed in richly toned freijó wood with sculptural leg elements and polished brass fittings, the structure reveals Rodrigues’ mastery of tension, proportion, and material integrity.

What distinguishes this example is its striking black stone top — a powerful and uncommon material choice within Rodrigues’ dining tables of the period. The stone has been professionally polished, revealing a deep, saturated surface with subtle mineral movement and natural variation. Its weight and permanence create a compelling dialogue with the warmth of the freijó base, elevating the table from functional object to architectural statement.
